Homeopathy has been available for over 200 years. Until the inventions and discoveries of modern pharmaceuticals and surgery, it was the major form of all medicine. It may surprise you to know that all the teaching hospitals in the U.S.A at the turn of the twentieth century, were ALL homeopathic hospitals! In countries such as India, Brazil, France and Germany, it is widely used and available today and here we in the U.K. with increasing numbers of people are turning to homeopathy.
Homeopathy follows the approach often called 'The Law of Similars' - the discovery by its Founder, Samuel Hahnemann,
a doctor, that a minute amount of a substance, prepared homeopathically, can help a symptom that in a healthy person would cause a problem. A common example is that coffee, that may lead to sleeplessness, can help induce sleep in a person with insomnia - if the remedy indicated for them is the remedy coffea. In another example, symptoms we may call 'hay fever' - runny nose, sore eyes - may reduce after the remedy allium has been taken. Allium, for those botanists amongst us, is the onion - and we all know what happens when we slice into an onion!
These are examples only - the entire focus is on YOU - how you experience your symptoms or problems, whatever they are - and to match that to a remedy. Please see my FAQ page for more information about what is involved in a consultation.
If you would like to have any details on the reported research that has gone on, investigating the efficacy of homeopathy, please email me and I can point you to some of the many source articles.
Neuro-Emotional Technique (TM), has been developed in the U.S.A and offers a 15 step protocol that enables stored traumas that may lead us to self-sabotage or phobias, by engaging the body's physiology (or 'body chemistry') so that the expression of the chemistry can reach completion - called 'extinction', biologically. This process - of 'clearing' emotions, science has shown, takes no longer than 90 seconds! As far as I am aware, I am the only homeopath trained in this technique.
The method also offers a practical way to reduce recurrent injuries or restricted function of body parts - e.g. you may be unable to fully rotate your neck - a simple N.E.T session may free up such soft tissue, releasing the restriction.
Nutrition - We all know the adage "you are what you eat" - but we forget that the quality, as well as quantity, of foods we take in are vital for healthy function. The body is an incredibly complex mechanism of inter-relating systems and nutrition plays a key role in improving function.
My service is to carry out a very detailed analysis of your current intakes, preferences and so on and produce an individual and detailed report, suggesting ways to improve your everyday diet. We go at your pace - so there are no 'extremes' in my approach.
Diet may play a vital role in exercise programmes - it is surprisingly easy to 'overdo' the physical demands made upon the body, that possibly lead to poor recovery times, impaired performance and time 'lost' to injury, as a result of not fully meeting all nutritional needs. Even a diet we think of as 'healthy' may not fully reflect possible additional demands of training or fitness programmes.
